Idaho Potato Tour big spud truck

Food lovers, let’s take a mouth-watering adventure back in time to the Food and Wine Conference at the Rosen Shingle Creek. Not only did hundreds of men and women from around the country travel to spend the weekend learning and sharing juicy culinary tips, the world’s largest potato on wheels traveled more than 2,500 miles to make an appearance.

The head-turning, jaw-dropping Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck was the true star of the show. Created for the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC), the potato weighs more than six tons, the equivalent of 32,346 medium-sized Idaho potatoes. A potato that size would take more than 10,000 years to grow and is 1,102 times heavier than the largest potato ever grown. Cooking that delicious tater would take two years and nine months.

The IPC was established in 1937 and is responsible for promoting and protecting the famous “Grown in Idaho®” seal, a federally registered certification mark that assures consumers they are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho’s growing season of warm days and cool nights, ample mountain-fed irrigation and rich volcanic soil give Idaho Potatoes their unique texture, taste and dependable performance which differentiates them from potatoes grown in other states.

Why did this huge spud-spectacle truck all the way down here? The Food and Wine Conference is an event that connects bloggers, small business owners, winemakers and chefs with public relations professionals, traditional media journalists, new media reporters, authors and brands to further their knowledge and insight for the betterment of their career and passion. Attendees learn about search engine optimization, social media marketing and promotion, effective writing, publishing, working with agencies and food photography. Created to inspire, empower and make a difference in their personal and professional lives, the Food and Wine Conference is an event bloggers and professional can’t afford to miss.
