Unfortunately, until now, parents have not had much of a choice when their child is struggling in college. They have to either rely on the college or university for support or remove their child from school or enroll them in community college or a distant treatment facility. One recent national survey found about 75 % of students enrolling in community colleges said they hoped to transfer to a four-year institution. But only 17 % of those who had entered in the mid-1990s made the switch within five years, according to a separate study. The rest were out working or still studying toward the two-year degree.
