Who Can Benefit from On-TRAC?

It is hard to believe that even today 33% of all college freshmen do not make it through their second year. In addition, of the top 5% of high school graduates, only 40% successfully complete a college education.

Just 54% of students entering four-year colleges in 1997 had a degree six years later — and even fewer Hispanics and Blacks did, according to some of the latest government figures. Associated Press, 2005.

On-TRAC offers a wide range of services which are designed to meet the needs of most young adults who are struggling in college. The particular program and its design will be determined during the assessment process.

On-TRAC offers three levels of programs: College Coaching, Intensive College Coaching and Supported Living. Although differing in intensity, each program is designed to assist the student in reaching a level of independence within the shortest period of time. The College Coaching and Intensive College Coaching are primarily provided within the campus community. The student maintains his or her current college placement and is assisted in utilizing services offered by the college and community. The Supported Living Program is our more intense service and provides supported housing in addition to coaching and life skills services.

Our combination of a comprehensive assessment, professional coaching and peer coaching assists students in a number of ways:

  • Our students gain an understanding of their current functioning, including strengths and growth areas
  • Our students gain confidence in their ability to achieve academic success
  • On-TRAC College Coaching provides an atmosphere of acceptance and guidance in a non-threatening approach
  • Our students work with peers who have achieved success in navigating the academic and social challenges of the college experience
  • Peer coaching takes place in casual settings with coaches who are similar in age and appearance
  • Consistent, yet less frequent, coaching sessions with a Professional Coach help to maintain the quality of services that On-TRAC believes is necessary for academic, social and professional success
  • Students appreciate the focus of the coaching sessions being on current functioning and future goal attainment
  • Students take responsibility for their own achievement and regain control over their future
  • Coaching is provided at or near campus in casual settings, which eliminates the need for students to find transportation, or to feel the formality of making office appointments

If you are a concerned student and would like to know if On-TRAC College Coaching could be useful to you, please take our Student Self Assessment.
